It has been about 10 years since the defeat and imprisonment of the traitor Aizen Sousuke. Life in both the Soul Society and the World of the Living has returned to normal, for the most part. Ichigo managed to recover his lost shinigami powers after his battle against Aizen and has lead a quite life with Rukia. Yes, the two have gotten married, making Ichigo an official member of the Kuchiki clan. That fact didn't sit well with Byakuya but he warmed up to it more or less after some time.
Speaking of Byakuya, head captain Yamamoto retired from his role once Aizen was securly locked away Byakuya was the only one deemed fit to replace him. A number of changes have been made to the 13 court guard squads. Squad 2 is still run by captain Soi Fon with the help of her new vice captain, Kyo Adamashi. Nobody knows what happened to Omeda but we never really cared about him in the first place (most of us put money down on how long until the captain killed him or he was fired).
Squad 3 is now run by captain Renji Abarai. He seems to be doing well for himself in that position. Squad 4 is still run by captain Unohana. I've noticed captain Ukitake going over more often these days but it doesn't seem to be for his illness. I wonder what they do over there. Captain Ukitake still runs squad 13 with a warm smile, still hasn't replaced his long gone vice-capatin yet but I hear he's looking for possible people.
Squads 5 and 9 have yet to be given a new captain but I hear vice-captains Hinamori and Hisagi have been training non-stop to aquire their bankais and take those spots. Captain Komamura is still holding squad 7 strong. captain Kyoraku is still in charge of squad 8 and has yet to stop slacking off. I hear lately Nano has been giving him some attention.
Captain Zaraki is still running squad 11 like a lunitic. Oddly enough Yachiru has refused to get any bigger by some force of will. The small ball of raw , pink energy has not given up her position and is still tormenting Ikaku and the rest of the squad.
Captain Kurotsuchi is still doing this weird experiments in squad 12 with Nemu. Everyone leaves him alone unless he's needed. Yet he is under investigation for certain experiments against past enemies.
Finally we come to squad 10 with Captain Hitsugaya and vice-captain Matsumoto. Everything is the same with them as it was back when I was with them. Man that seems like such a long time ago.
As for myself I've rose through the ranks and now run squad 6.
A new breed of enemy has shown up but we don't know what these "Sentenils" plan. All I can tell is their hearts are some sort of artificial device that can become a weapon and they are much stronger than Aizen's arrancar were. As well as the Sentinls, a new group of people calling themselves the "Xcution" have appeared, beings with the ability to make items that they find dear to them into weapons with special powers and abilities. It also seems Aizen has broken out of his eternal imprisonment at the cost of his god-like powers. An odd occurance has taken place also, arrancar, humans, shinigami and even hollows that had fallen in the past have begun to reappear and return to life.
